Kashagan could resume commercial production at the end of this week
The repair works continue on the place of gas leakage on the ground installation Bolashak in Atyrau district of Kazakhstan, reported Interfax quoting North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC), the project operator.
“Oil production has been suspended on Kashagan and all the facilities of the ground and offshore complex are in standby mode. The date of resumption of production is unknown yet,” reads the press release.
On September 24 in the morning there was a gas leakage from the gas pipeline stretching from the Island D to Bolashak, 2.5 km away from the plant. The ground section of the gas pipeline has been isolated and cleaned with nitrogen to ensure free access. The ground works to open the pipeline started on September 26 in the evening. The pipeline inspection started on September 27, 2013. The repair works started on September 28, 2013 after establishing the source of the leakage. The investigation has started in correspondence with the safety regulations. The casualties are not reported.—0--
