Kurdish Militants Blow up Gas Pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum
Terrorists blew up a section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline in the Turkish province of Kars, said the governor of the province /
According to the Daily Sabah, the explosion was carried out by militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party - PKK. The attack was attended by about 20 fighters.
Currently the fuel supply through the pipeline is blocked and the security forces, the gendarmerie and the military surround the area, controlling the situation. A firefight with the militants is underway.
Recall that Turkey receives gas from the Azerbaijani field Shah Deniz by this pipeline. Meanwhile, the company BP (operator of the project) said that undermining the pipeline will not affect the production of gas from the field Shah Deniz.
Note that this is the second diversion of the Kurds against this pipeline in the past month. On August 4, the gas pipeline was blown up on another site and recovered within a week. -02D-
