Ministry of Agriculture Coordinates Harvesting and Processing of Cotton
Baku / 18.09.17 / Turan: Mass harvesting of cotton continues in Azerbaijan. This year, as in the former Soviet times, the harvesting campaign is coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Last Saturday, a meeting was held at the Ministry with the participation of the heads of the Ministry"s regional directorates and the heads of the raw cotton receipt points. The meeting devoted to the production, harvesting and processing of cotton and forthcoming tasks was conducted by Minister Heydar Asadov himself.
The reports on the work done in these areas, including the provision of money to cotton farmers for the sold harvest and accounting for the harvesting process, were heard. It should be noted that subsidies for the production of raw cotton are provided in accordance with the volume of cotton sold to the procurement points. The state pays farmers and agricultural enterprises 0.10 manat per 1 kg of cotton. The purchase price of raw cotton is 0.40-0.50 manat / kg.
This year, cotton is harvested from 136,400 hectares. In 2016, the area under cotton was 52,100 hectares. At the expense of budgetary funds, about 150 cotton harvesters and hundreds of other equipment were purchased this year. ----08D
