The Ministry of Taxes held a Board meeting on July 27 to discuss the recent meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, where President Ilham Aliyev criticized the activities of tax authorities with respect to relationships with entrepreneurs.
According to the Analytical Information Department of the Ministry of Taxes, Minister Fazil Mammadov said that serious steps are taken to address the errors.
Noting the inadmissibility of artificial obstacles and unlawful interference with business, Tax Minister stressed the importance of a careful consideration of the incoming applications and complaints of citizens, the adoption of strict measures against members of the tax service, committed errors in the work, said the agency.
It is noteworthy that according to statistics driven by the Ministry of Taxes, for example, in April of this year, only 2.5% of the more than 9,000 applications to this department was of the complaint nature, including corruption - 0.2% and the acts and omissions of tax officials - 0.5%.
Recall that the President actually announced certain offenses on the part of the Ministry of Taxes, which are long known in the community. "I am informed that the Ministry of Taxes has acted very toughly and in a demanding way in the recent years. However, unreasonable demands should not be nominated. I should mention that. Therefore, entrepreneurs, to put it in simple terms, have to pay the money to the state, that's all. In addition, they do not have to pay a single manat to anyone," Aliyev said. He also instructed the government agencies not to impose any unreasonable demands. "The Ministry of Taxes, the police, local executive authorities in Baku and regions set fees, require payments and illegally patronize. This is an intolerable phenomenon and this must end. If they believe that no one knows this, they are wrong. This is a very serious matter and I receive signals that in some places it has acquired a mass character," the President stressed on July 13. -----08D

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN.
