Mobile Number Portability Service Implemented
From January to April the service of number portability of mobile communications across the country was used by 3,786 customers.
As stated in an official statement on the website of Ministry of Communications and High-Tech, in the first quarter the registration system of mobile devices registered over 201,000 devices, certificates of conformity for 78 different types of equipment that are in public circulation and 335 different types of telecommunication facilities and installations.
One state information resource and six private information databases were registered. So now the number of registered information resources has reached 79 and the number of information systems has reached 159.
According to the ministry, the essence of number portability is to eliminate the dependence of a mobile subscriber on one operator. In particular, its implementation will allow subscribers to change their GSM operator without changing the code and number. The subscriber will only have to write an application for a change of the operator.
The country has 3 mobile operators - Bakcell, Azercell and Azerfon. --17D-
