Prices for Cigarettes and Alcoholic Drinks to Rise in 2018
Baku / 26.12.17 / Turan: At the end of January 2018, excise rates on imported cigarettes will increase threefold, from 4 to 12 manats per 50 packs (1,000 units). This decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers on December 21.
Excise rates for the import of cigars will be doubled (from 10 to 20 manats per 1,000 pieces). Experts believe this will lead to a rise in price in the retail sale of cigarettes, since the demand for cigarette consumption is approximately 90% satisfied by imports.
The excises on the import of wine and vodka products are also revised. Excise tax on import of 1 liter of beer will increase from 1 to 1.70 manats, wine - from 2 to 3.50 manats, champagne - from 2.50 to 5 manats, and alcohol - from 2 to 4 manats. Importers will pay excise at the rate of 10 manats, 4 manats more than now, for a liter of whiskey, vodka, gin, liqueur, or rum. --08D--
