Regular Meeting of the President of Turkmenistan with the Head of SOCAR
The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received November 20 Rovnag Abdullayev - head of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
Abdullayev arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the international oil and gas exhibition, conveys www.turkmenistan.ru.
The meeting noted the relevance of the Ashgabat international exhibition and conference on cooperation in the oil and gas sector. The parties stressed that the export potential of the fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan is strengthening international partnerships in regional and global dimension.
The head of SOCAR praised Turkmenistan's initiative to establish a UN-led international expert group, the main purpose of which is the development of a new international legal mechanism aimed at ensuring stable and reliable supply of energy to world markets.
An important step in its implementation, in which Azerbaijan is also interested, will be the first meeting of the expert group scheduled in Ashgabat for December.
At the end of the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov and his guest expressed confidence in the successful continuation of the dynamically developing Turkmen-Azerbaijani cooperation built on an equal and mutually beneficial basis.
Note that this is the third meeting of Rovnag Abdullayev with the Turkmen President this year. -12D-

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less. This robust reserve position reflects Azerbaijan's fiscal stability and the government’s strategic economic management.
