Terms of Launching Gas Processing Plant in Garadagh Postponed
The gas processing and petrochemical plants in Azerbaijan within the framework of the creation of the country's new complex for oil and gas processing and petrochemical production (OGPC) will be commissioned at the beginning and end of 2020 respectively. This was stated today by the head of OGPC on the organization and control, Orkhan Jafarov during the conference in the Baku Oil and Gas Week.
Note that it was previously envisaged that these facilities will be commissioned in late 2018. Prior to this, the management of SOCAR announced the postponement of the new refinery in the composition OGPC, which is planned to be commissioned in 2023-2025. Now, in connection with the construction of new facilities in the Heydar Aliyev refinery, the new plant is planned to put into operation no earlier than 2030.
According to the representative of SOCAR, the raw material for the gas processing plant will be gas from the Azeri-Chirag-Umid and others developed by SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) independently.
The plant's capacity will be 12 billion cu. m / year. This will fully meet the needs of the population and production facilities for purified natural gas.
The next is a chemical manufacturing plant for the production capacity of 800 000 tons of polyethylene and 300,000 tons of polypropylene.
The products that will be produced at the petrochemical plant will be directed to the needs of the country, as well as for export, Jafarov said.
The total cost of the first phase of the project is estimated at $ 7 billion (including interest on loans - $ 8.45 billion). The payback period is 4-5 years. The project at 30% will be realized at the expense of public funds (the amount will be allocated in installments over five years), and 70% - at the expense of borrowed funds.
OGPC will be located 60 kilometers from Baku, and consist of three processing plants (gas processing, oil refining and gas-chemical) and a thermoelectric power plant.
According to Turan, SOCAR will start the construction of the gas processing plant in 2016. -12B--
