Share of Renewable Energy by 2020 to Amount to Quarter of All Energy Facilities in Azerbaijan
Preparing for a program of medium-and long-term development of alternative energy in Azerbaijan is almost complete.
According to the head of state company on alternative and renewable energy Akim Badalov, during the presentation of the plan of mid-term measures, the sector is knowledge-intensive and requires the use of modern technology, in connection with the weighty than it needs government support.
By 2020, the power capacity of alternative and renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan will amount to two thousand five hundred megawatts - about a quarter of total capacity. Last year, the share of this sector was 10%, of which hydropower had 9.8%.
The head of the state company said that by 2020, funding for alternative energy will be fully implemented at the expense of reinvestment. While this year AZN 100 million of investment is required, next year it will require 450 million manat. This rate will quickly develop the industry.
In 2012 and 2013 mostly realized will be projects to develop the Hovsan gas aeration plant with capacity of 50 MW, the wind park Pirakeshkul (110 MW), the landfill Gobustan (5.5 megawatts), and so on - a total of five projects worth 657.5 million euro. -17D -

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
