Silk Way West Airlines Buys another Boeing 747-8F
This year the fleet of the Silk Way West Airlines will increase to seven airplanes. The company expects delivery of another cargo plane B747-8F, the press service of the airline said.
Currently Silk Way West Airlines’ fleet consists of four aircraft Boeing 747-8F and two aircraft Boeing747-400F. It operates scheduled flights to various regions of the world - Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America, using the Heydar Aliyev International Airport as a transit hub.
Silk Way West Airlines began operations in June 2012. “Supply of a new cargo Boeing will enable the airline to widen the geography of the flights,” Turan was told in the airline.
It should be noted that it has recently passed a regular audit of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for compliance with IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) and has been extended the respective certificate for another two years.
Earlier the appropriate IOSA certificate was received by the national passenger airline Azerbaijan Airlines. -----08D

Azerbaijan’s economy, which is heavily dependent on oil revenues, faces a stark warning in the 2021 report by Carbon Tracker titled “Beyond the Oil States: The Urgent Need to Reduce Dependence on Oil in the Context of the Energy Transition.” The report ranks Azerbaijan among the most vulnerable oil-dependent countries, placing it in the "5th group" — a category reserved for nations expected to experience a decline in oil and gas revenues exceeding 40% over the next decade. This group includes Angola, Bahrain, Timor-Leste, Equatorial Guinea, Oman, and South Sudan, highlighting shared economic risks for these states.

In Azerbaijan, the government has increasingly relied on tax exemptions for imported goods as a tool to stabilize domestic market prices. The exemption from the 18% VAT on wheat imports, extended this year, exemplifies this approach. New measures have also been introduced, including tax relief on imports of electric vehicle chargers, while exemptions for high-cost medications are currently under discussion. Notably, defense imports continue to be free from taxes and customs duties.
