SOCAR saved well on Bulla Deniz field, fire extinguished
State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has finally managed to extinguish fire on the well No 90 on the Bulla Deniz gas condensate offshore field, 80 km south of Baku.
A source from SOCAR told Turan that yesterday at about 7.00 p.m. local time the rescue brigade managed to extinguish fire on the platform using a mixture of sand and water under high pressure. Right after that the drilling equipment with total weight of about 40 tons was delivered to the well using the service vessels. The equipment was made in form of a triangle and was tightly fastened.
SOCAR’s representative said that the well with the drilling progress of 5868 meters has been saved during this operation. He said after that the main goal will be to study deep productive beds during the exploration drilling for their further development.
On August 17 at 11.30 p.m. the well No 90 on the Bulla Deniz field caught fire. SOCAR reported that since that time 2.5-3 million cub.m. of gas a day was burnt on the well.—0—
