State Committee for Property information on privatization is not true
The State Committee for Property announced the results of the process of privatization of the property, which started in 1996, according to which privatization was used by 1.2 million citizens of the country. Independent experts say that the SCP statistics on the results of privatization in the 16 years was inflated several times.
The head of the Department of State Property Privatization of SCP Sadig Mamedov in the interview for Dasinmaz Emlak (the SCP paper) said the shares of the privatized JSC were acquired by over 250,000 citizens. More than 520,000 people purchased shares in small companies. Privatized firms employed 300,000 people.
An economist, chairman of the Public Association "Center for Public Initiatives" Gubad Ibadoglu told Turan the statistics are not true. "In the first program of privatization in 1997-1998, that is, the active phase of the" big "privatization, approximately 70,000 people became shareholders. After this the process has slowed down."
According to the National Depository Center, which is the registrar of virtually all privatized JSC, the center has deposit accounts of approximately 100,000 shareholders. As evidenced from ads about auctions, small businesses are sold mainly to one person.
By the beginning of 2012 in Azerbaijan, shares of around 1,600 JSC and more than 42,000 small businesses and facilities were sold. - 08B-
