TAP selects contractors to design and build compressor stations in Greece and Albania

The consortium for construction of the trans-Adriatic gas pipeline (TAP) has invited bids to design, purchase, build and put into operation one compressor station in both Greece and Albania, TAP reported.

The works also include design, purchase, construction and putting into operation one measuring station in Albania to measure natural gas coming from the Greek section of TAP.

The structure and technical characteristics of the compressor stations must correspond to the initial capacity of the pipeline of 10 billion cub.m. of gas a year with the possibility of expansion up to 20 billion cub.m. a year.

TAP consortium plans to award contracts to build the compressor stations in the mid-2015.

Construction of 1800-km-long TAP is planned to begin in 2016.

TAP is designed to transport natural gas from the Shah Deniz Phase 2 to Italy through Greece and Albania.

The shares in the TAP are distributed as following: SOCAR (20%), BP (20%), Statoil (20%), Fluxys (19%), Enagás (16%) and EGL-Axpo (5%). –0--
