Tariff Council clarifies on the fares on buses
Tariff (Price) Council made a presentation about the rumors of a tariff increase for travel on public road transport in the country, which are fueled by statements from the Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov on unprofitable of carriages.
“The tariffs for the carriage of passengers shall not be discussed and tariff changes on them are not being dealt with the Tariff Council,” the document says.
From the 1st of May this year in Azerbaijan passenger tariffs for road transport are governed by new rules that do not allow to change them.
The minimum fare for urban road transport in Baku and other cities and regions of the country is 20 gepiks. The same amount is worth the fare in metro. Depending on the distance to commuter and long-distance routes fare is 80 gepiks; the fare per one kilometer on long-distance buses is 1.6 gepiks. --08D—
