Turkey reduced gas import by 12%
According to the plans of the Turkish government, by 2023 natural gas import will keep declining at the expense of putting into operation of local energy sources. In quarter 3, 2013 Turkey decreased gas import by 12%.
In quarter 2, 2013, Turkey purchased 6% less gas from Russian Gasprom company as compared to quarter 1, 2013.
That time Italy has saved the situation by increasing the purchases by 190%. Right now Turkey buys gas worth $12 billion a year.
One of the directions of investments is the field in Konya province, where it is planned to extract methanol from the coal strata.
TPAO has been developing Dogu-Ayazli and Ayazli-Akkaya fields. In 2012 the production volume totaled 127 million cub.m.
