Yerevan ready to buy cheap Iranian gas
Armenia is ready to discuss the possibility of delivery of Iranian gas, if its price is below $189 (Armenia buys Russian gas at the same price), said Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisian on December 12, 2013 after the session of the government, reported REGNUM news agency’s correspondent.
Minister said he is ready to discuss the price with the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia. “If Iranian gas is cheaper, than Russian, then I will fly to Tehran tomorrow to conclude the agreement. We are free to choose the gas supplier, we have no strict commitments to Russia, as other countries consuming Russian gas do,” Movsisian said.
The gas pipeline Iran-Armenia, which was put into operation in 2007, has the carrying capacity of 2.2 billion cub.m. a year. At present gas is imported via the pipeline in exchange for electricity – 1 cub.m. of gas for 3 kwh of power.—0—
