SOCAR trains its staff to liquidate aftermath of oil spill
40 specialists of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) have been recently trained to liquidate aftermath of oil spill.
The event was organised by the Baku OSCE office and it was aimed at strengthening the company’s potential for implementation of the national plan of unforeseen oil spill.
The plan of efficient measures for oil spill prevention was worked out by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Emergency Situations at the end of October 2013.
“The plan is aimed at close cooperation with the oil companies operating in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea and we are ready to further assist to train the company’s staff to react to oil spill,” said Emmanuel Hatzinger, chief of the Economic and Ecological Department of the Baku OSCE office.
SOCAR has been recently paying a special attention to the environment issues. It bought special equipment and trained its staff.—0---

In late February, the governments of Pakistan and Azerbaijan are expected to sign an investment agreement worth $2 billion, which will include several projects with SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan). According to Turan, the energy cooperation projects discussed in January in Islamabad and Baku will feature in the agreement. These projects include energy efficiency initiatives, the construction of a pipeline, and SOCAR’s plans to explore the creation of underground gas storage facilities in Pakistan, as well as documents provided by the Pakistani side related to the exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons in the country.
