U.S. Announces Additional $2.1 Billion Security Assistance To Ukraine
Washington D.C./10.06.23/Turan: The Biden administration on Friday announced another security aid package for Ukraine valued at $2.1 billion, providing what it said was "critical air defense and ammunition capabilities" to help Ukrainians defend against Russian missile attacks, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
The latest package includes HAWK air defense systems and missiles along with additional munitions for the prized Patriot missile defense systems. Kyiv will also get Puma surveillance and reconnaissance drones, along with more artillery rounds and additional support for training and maintenance.
“The United States will continue to work with its allies and partners to provide Ukraine with capabilities to meet its immediate battlefield needs and longer-term security assistance requirements,” the Pentagon said in a Friday release.
With the new package announcement, the U.S. has provided more than $40.4 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the Biden administration, including more than $39.7 billion since the beginning of the war last February.
