Food Prices Rose by 3% in August

The average prices of the consumer basket on 30 kinds of basic food products of domestic production, compiled by Turan IA, increased by 3% on the average in August.

Thus, prices went up again. In July, prices rose by 1.4%, a decline of 1.04% was observed in June, in May there was a decline by 2.8% and in April the prices declined by 2.85%. The decline was due to the release of seasonal agricultural production into the market.

The overall rise in prices, as shown by the data, was influenced by foods depending on imports in the consumer basket: rice (+ 17.7%). vermicelli and spaghetti (+ 14.2%). milk (+ 9%). beef (+6.2%). lamb (+ 5.9%). butter (+ 5.5%). margarine (+ 4.1%). eggs (+ 7.6%). sugar (+ 6.8%). and biscuits (+ 4.7%)

Seasonal products became cheaper: onions (-40%) and cabbages (-30%).

In connection with the reduction in the volume of seasonal products and the creeping devaluation of the manat further rise in the prices is expected.
