10th South Caucasus Conference on Freedom of the Media
In Tbilisi on November 11 opened a two-day conference on Freedom of the Media in the South Caucasus.
The conference is attended by OSCE Special Representative on Freedom of the Media, Dunja Mijatovic, and the Foreign Minister of Georgia Maya Pandzhkidze.
Presentations will be made by Miklos Haraszti - a former OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, and Joao Barata - Chief Adviser of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media .
Armenia is represented by Tigran Balayan - Foreign Ministry spokesman and Nune Sargsyan - Managing Director of media initiatives. They will talk about the development of the Armenian media.
Azerbaijan is represented by Vugar Aliyev , Head of Sector for Media Relations of the Presidential Administration and the Turan News Agency Director Mehman Aliyev .
Georgia is represented by a member of parliament Irakli Chikovani and the head of NGO "Media Development Fund" Tamar Horbaladze.
According to the results of the conference, there will be a declaration. Closing remarks will be made by Dunja Mijatovic , OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media.
December 12 at the conference will be a master class on the transition to digital broadcasting. The master class is an interactive series of presentations and discussions on the benefits , challenges and the necessary steps in the transition to digital broadcasting in the countries of the South Caucasus.
