On the day of Ashura police move to enhanced mode
In connection with mourning religious activities on the day of Ashura (the 10th day of the Shiite mourning of Muharram) on November 14 the police will work in emergency mode.
In particular, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs , in places of religious ceremonies , as well as in public places to ensure the safety of the citizens additional police outfits will be involved.
Interior Ministry warned about the inadmissibility of ceremonies and marches outside the designated areas.
Earlier , the faithful were urged not to attach religious symbols and posters with slogans dedicated to the Shiite commemoration of Imam Hussein and Imam Ali.
Controlled by the authorities, the Caucasus Muslims Department also called on the faithful to carry out activities solely in the mosques and shrines.
This year the special security measures, according to observers, have been caused by the discontent among the faithful with the arrests of a large number of Islamists in the recent months.
Authorities fear that the ceremonies on the occasion of Ashura will spill over into protests and disobedience. -06D -
