A meeting of NATO experts in Baku
Baku/15.05.18/Turan: Within the framework of cooperation with NATO, for the first time in Baku a meeting with a permanent group of experts on the rear of partner countries of the Alliance is held. The focus of discussions on logistics and transport, sustainable planning and freedom of movement, the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
The event, which will last until May 18, is attended by 24 representatives from 13 countries.
The main objective of the expert group is to find ways of developing for the fruitful use of the material and technical divisions of the partner countries that contribute to NATO operations with the definition of their capabilities.
Azerbaijan's cooperation with NATO began in 1994. The issues of military cooperation, political consultations on security and organization of peacekeeping operations within the framework of Azerbaijan's participation in the Partnership for Peace program became an integral part of the relations between Baku and the Alliance.
In 2005, Azerbaijan adopted the Operational Plan for Individual Partnership. From the further in-depth integration, Azerbaijan abstains and does not raise the issue of membership in the Alliance in the future. Opposition politicians explain this not by Baku's desire to annoy Russia, but also by the lack of interest in carrying out reforms. Official Baku declares a balanced foreign policy. Azerbaijan participates in the Non-Accession Movement, which excludes membership in military blocs. -06D-

On November 26, the Baku Court of Appeals reviewed the appeal of human rights defender Anar Mammadli, who contested the extension of his detention. Mammadli's lawyer, Javad Javadov, stated that Mammadli argued the extension of his pre-trial detention was unfounded and linked the criminal prosecution to his human rights activities, Turan reported.

On November 26, a group of reserve officers from the Nakhchivan special forces held a protest near the Azerbaijani presidential administration. The protesters participated in the 44-day war and were discharged after sustaining injuries. They claim that the payments they are entitled to have not been provided.

On November 26, the Baku Court of Appeals heard a complaint regarding the extension of the detention of former diplomat Emin Ibrahimov. During the hearing, the investigator requested that the complaint be rejected, while Ibrahimov's lawyer, Aghil Laidj, pointed out the lack of grounds for keeping Ibrahimov in custody.

Arrested economist Fazil Gasimov has reportedly faced pressure after protesting the interruption of a phone call with his family on November 16. "The phone call was cut off, and Fazil demanded that the connection be restored. Then, Jalal Alizadeh, a detention center officer, along with his colleagues, forcibly removed Fazil from the phone room in the medical unit of the facility, tearing his jacket and dragging him across the floor before throwing him into a cell.
