The charge high treason was separated from the case of the human rights defenders Leila and Arif Yunus, according to their lawyer Elchin Gambarov. He said that preliminary investigation is coming to end, and soon the case will be sent to the court, which will consider only the charges of economic crimes.
With regard to the allegations under article "treason", according to the Criminal Procedure Code, the investigation may be suspended or separately investigated. The decision will be made by the investigating authority. He called the separation of the treason charges a "good prospect" in the case of spouses Yunus.
The spouses Leyla and Arif Yunus, were arrested last summer. International human rights organizations have recognized them as political prisoners and called for their release.-06D--
