About 4000 manat Collected in "5 kopecks" Campaign
As part of public campaign "5 kopecks" in favor of youth activists, who were fined for taking part in a protest on January 12, 350 donations amounting to of 3,913 manat have already been made, according to Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, member of the working group of the campaign.
The campaign was launched on January 15 and its meaning is in the manifestation of civic solidarity with young people fined for protesting against the unnecessary deaths of soldiers in the army. It was decided to raise money in small coins to cover the huge fines. Despite the vast majority of the donations received from youth, the older generation is involved in the action.
University staff, activists, journalists, lawyers, and employees of trade centers support the campaign.
Fundraising is also going on abroad - Germany, Turkey, Russia, Canada and other countries, and 315 euros have already been collected.
Funds are collected every day in at: Murtuz Mukhtarov St. 149 behind "Nizami" metro station, in the office of the NGO "Positive changes", (tel: 5964447, 0515882417), and through bank transfer to an account of Tehran Mustafayev Telman oglu, Bank Respublika Hesab (IBAN) AZ75BRES00381184000729625601 (SWIFT - BRESAZ22)). Daily reports on the collected funds are provided.
Twenty-five protesters were sentenced to administrative fines ranging from 300 to 600 manat; the total amount of all fines is 12,000 manat.–06D-
