Ali Hasanov Avoids Trial on Claim from Rustam Ibrahimbekov
Scheduled for June 21, the meeting of the Sabail District Court in Baku at the suit of the Chairman of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) screenwriter Rustam Ibrahimbekov against the head of the public policy department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov has been rescheduled for June 28. The reason for this was that representatives of the defendant did not come.
The trial on this case began on June 3, but for the third time neither the defendant nor his representative came to the court.
The basis for the claim was an interview by Ali Hasanov with the agency APA, in which he called Ibrahimbekov unprofessional and accused him of seeking to build a restaurant and entertainment establishments near the Alley of Martyrs.
According to Ibrahimbekov's lawyer Fuad Agayev, early today, the judge tried to propose a linguistic examination of statements by Hasanov.
"I was opposed to that. Hasanov's statements are clear and unambiguous and therefore the examination is not necessary. Having gone to the meeting, the judge came back and said that the examination will not be conducted. He appointed a regular meeting to hold pleadings on June 28," Agayev told Turan.
The lawyer regarded the failure of the defendant's representative to visit the court for three times as "helplessness of Ali Hasanov." "He has nothing to say in the court. Evasion of the court is a testament to the fact that this man can not stand for his own words," said the lawyer.
Agayev also reminded the court for a long time did not want to work on the claim for ridiculous reasons. The refusal was appealed and the case went to the Supreme Court, after which the claim was accepted for consideration on the merits.
It is noteworthy that Hasanov often blames the press for violation of the honor and dignity of citizens and is a fierce opponent of the abolition of criminal penalties for defamation. -06C -
