Ali Hasanov: Azerbaijan Is One of Freest Countries in World
The ultimate goal of the Azerbaijani authorities is to ensure the rights and freedoms of Azerbaijani citizens and their decent living. This was stated by Assistant to the President Ali Hasanov, speaking in the Parliament at the hearing on the occasion of Human Rights Day, celebrated on 18 June.
Being true to his style, Hasanov ignored the obvious problems in this area and acted as a promoter, praising achievements of the authorities in the field of human rights.
At the same time, he called Armenian occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh massive violation of human rights.
As for achievements, then according to Hasanov, Azerbaijan is the freest country in the world, which provides all the rights and opportunities for NGOs, the media and civil society as a whole.
"In Azerbaijan, there are free pluralistic media. The Internet is free, and in the number of media we are a leading country in the world, as we have more than 5,000 media," he said. Since 2009, the authorities have allocated grants to NGOs, amounting to 30 million AZN. -16D-
