Baku/15.05.23/Turan: On May 15, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev called the head of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and congratulated the Republican Union he leads on winning a majority of votes in the presidential and parliamentary elections.
Aliyev noted that under the leadership of Erdogan, the Republic of Turkey "has come a long way of development", and as "a manifestation of this, the fraternal Turkish people have demonstrated confidence in their leader in the past elections." Erdogan expressed gratitude to the head of Azerbaijan for the attention and congratulations.
During a telephone conversation, the heads of state once again noted that "friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries are permanent and inviolable."
It should be noted that in the presidential elections held in Turkey on May 14, according to preliminary data, Erdogan is gaining 49.3 percent. votes and the candidate from the opposition "National Union" Kemal Kılıçdaroglu 45 percent. votes and they advance to the second round. The third candidate, Sinan Ogan, has 5.2 percent. votes.

Armenia is not against the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, but does not consider it appropriate to discuss this issue now. "In the context of peace, we consider it possible to make a decision on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group. On August 31, Azerbaijan observes a "day of silence" before the Sunday’s early parliamentary elections for the unicameral Milli Majlis. On August 30, at approximately 22:55, the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant in Metsamor was disconnected from the country's power grid, as reported by the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure. The shutdown was caused by a lightning strike, which triggered the plant's safety systems to switch the station to a safe shutdown mode. Currently, the plant's staff is working on restarting the facility.
