American mediators have been circulating between Baku and Yerevan for a week
Baku/20.04.23/Turan: On April 20, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed with Senior Adviser on negotiations in the Caucasus Luis Bono the mechanism of negotiations between Baku and Karabakh, the press service of the Armenian government. Pashinyan noted the importance of the efforts of the US administration to ensure stability and security in the region and presented the approaches of the Armenian side to resolve the existing key problems. "Pashinyan called the aggressive policy and bellicose rhetoric against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and the territorial integrity of Armenia unacceptable," the statement said.
The situation in Karabakh was discussed against the background of the "humanitarian crisis due to the blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan", as well as the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and the unblocking of regional transport infrastructures.
It should be noted that at the beginning of the week the Armenian authorities discussed these issues with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Erica Olson. After that, she arrived in Baku on the same mission and held talks with Ilham Aliyev the day before. Luis Bono visited Baku at the beginning of the week and has been in Yerevan for three days.
Apparently, the American mediators have taken the initiative into their own hands and are coordinating the work on coordinating the positions of Baku and Yerevan on concluding a peace treaty. --02D--
