Baku/19.12.23/Turan: On December 21, the Baku Court of Appeal will consider an appeal against the arrest of Tofig Yagublu, a member of the Coordination Center of the Musavat Party and the National Council of Democratic Forces. His daughter Nigar Khazi told Turan.
On December 15, the Narimanov district court arrested Yagublu for 4 months on charges of fraud and document forgery. Lawyer Neymat Kerimli told reporters that the investigation believes that if Yagublu is released, that "he may hinder the investigation and escape."
Yagublu denied the charges and linked the criminal case to his opposition activities.
The investigation accuses Yagublu of producing false documents in order to organize illegal immigration.
Earlier, Tofig Yagublu had repeatedly been subjected to criminal and administrative arrests and recognized as a "prisoner of conscience".-16D-
