Armenian Leadership Formulates New Position on Karabakh
Yerevan / 27.04.16 / Turan-ArmInfo: The Karabakh conflict has entered a new phase, so now it is not the time to speak about any concessions. This was said by the Vice-Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov in the Armenian Parliament.
"At this stage the situation is as follows - if our partners want to continue the negotiations, three Armenian side conditions should be performed. We are talking about the introduction of specific mechanisms to investigate border incidents, the creation of clear measures to prevent the Azerbaijani aggression in the future, as well as the targeted statements on various events on the Karabakh conflict," said Sharmazanov.
Another Vice-Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Hermine Naghdalyan said it is unacceptable for the Armenians to hold a second referendum on the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.
In 1991, a referendum was held on independence and Nagorno-Karabakh determined its fate on the same basis as the other post-Soviet republics," she said.
Further, she said the Armenian side does not pretend to "five of the occupied territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh."
"Once the world will recognize Artsakh, we will return your lands and those lands, which we have no right to. We do not want them - this is just our buffer zone, the guarantor of our security," said Naghdalyan. -02D-
