Armenian Side Refuses to Return Body of Azerbaijani Soldier
The State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People of Azerbaijan reported on the refusal of the Armenian side to return the body of an Azerbaijani soldier.
Recall that on 16 April the military authorities of the separatist regime announced the discovery of the body of an Azerbaijani soldier.
Thereafter, the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People of Azerbaijan appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman for secure transfer of the body.
Both international organizations, through the coordinators on the opposite sides, confirmed the discovery of the body of an Azerbaijani soldier, the state commission reported on April 17.
During the talks it was agreed to return the body in the Agdam direction of the front on April 17 at 10.30. To this end, representatives of the State Commission, the ICRC and the OSCE arrived at the pre-agreed point on April 16. However, on April 16 about 22:30 the Armenian side informed the mediators about the cancellation of the return procedure. The Armenians claimed that an "error" allegedly occurred and the body found does not belong to an Azerbaijani serviceman.
Thus, as stated by the State Commission of Azerbaijan, the Armenian side not only hypocritically violated international humanitarian law, but also demonstrated a disregard for international organizations.
"The Armenian side also disrespectfully acts with the body of a soldier that lost his life in battle and has turned it into an instrument of its dirty plans," the State Commission stated. -06D--
