Azerbaijan and Spain to sign agreement on military cooperation
A meeting of the Azerbaijan’s and Spain’s Defense Ministers, Safar Abiyev and Pedro Morenes Alvaro de Eulatella, took place today.
According to the press service of the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan, during the meeting with the participation of delegations, Abiyev spoke about the development of the armed forces of Azerbaijan, the expansion of ties with NATO, and the positive results of the superiority of cooperation between the defense ministries of the two countries. Abiyev also informed the guests about the military-political situation in the region, the causes of the Karabakh conflict.
"Azerbaijan has all the means to strengthen its armed forces. Four UN Security Council resolutions from 1993, demanding the withdrawal of Armenian troops, still remain unimplemented, and the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group are ineffectual," Abiyev said.
The Spanish Minister was surprised by the information on non performing on four UN Security Council resolutions, and the possible consequences of this.
During the meeting, they discussed a wide range of issues and noted the need to sign an agreement on military cooperation.
Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral of Spain, Fernando Garcia Sanchez, and the ambassadors of both countries, also participated in the meeting. –06D-
