Azerbaijan celebrates Victory Day
Baku/08.11.23/Turan: Today, Azerbaijan commemorates Victory Day, achieved in the Patriotic War of 2020. This momentous conflict culminated in the liberation of territories in Azerbaijan that had been occupied by Armenia since 1992-1994.
The establishment of this holiday was decreed by the President of Azerbaijan on December 2, 2020, in alignment with the liberation of the city of Shusha by the Azerbaijani armed forces on November 8.
The Patriotic War, launched to regain control of the occupied territories, commenced on September 27, 2020, and persisted for 44 days until the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia, along with the Prime Minister of Armenia, inked a ceasefire agreement on November 10, 2020. The accord stipulated Armenia's commitment to withdraw its troops from Azerbaijani territory in exchange for a cessation of hostilities.
To commemorate this momentous occasion, President of Azerbaijan will host a parade in Khankendi, featuring the participation of troops who played a pivotal role in the liberation of Karabakh.--0--
