Azerbaijan furnished proof of Armenia's non-compliance with UN Court decisions
Baku/23.09.22/Turan: Azerbaijan adduced evidence to the International Court of Justice of the United Nations of Armenia's failure to comply with the interim measures envisaged by this organization on December 7, 2021.
As stated in the commentary of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, "On the basis of the petitions filed by Azerbaijan, on December 7, 2021, the Court unanimously decided on interim measures against Armenia".
The court ordered Armenia to take all necessary measures to prevent incitement of racial hatred on the territory of Armenia against Azerbaijani citizens and persons of Azerbaijani origin, as well as to refrain from any actions that could aggravate or prolong the dispute, including those that complicate its resolution," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The basis for the adoption of this court decision was the evidence presented by Azerbaijan on the non-prosecution of persons and ethno-nationalist groups promoting revanchism, inciting hatred and calling for violence against Azerbaijanis, encouragement in some cases of their activities by the state bodies of Armenia.
Despite the decision of the International Court of Justice, Armenia continued to grossly violate its obligations in 2022. No practical measures have been taken against revanchists inciting hatred and calling for violence against Azerbaijanis.
Prior to the transfer of the city of Lachin, the villages of Zabukh and Sus under the full control of Azerbaijan, the Armenians who illegally lived there during the occupation demonstratively showed their hatred towards Azerbaijanis by burning houses belonging to Azerbaijanis and destroying forests.
During the demining of the Lachin region in 2021, up to 1,400 Armenian-made mines were discovered. The absolute majority of the territories where mines were buried are villages and settlements where Azerbaijanis once lived. The main purpose of this provocation is to artificially prevent the return of internally displaced persons to their homeland.
"These evidences, testifying to Armenia's gross violation of the decisions of the International Court of Justice of December 7, 2021, have been officially submitted to the International Court of Justice," the statement of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reads. -06B-
