Azerbaijan invited observers from the IPA CIS to the parliamentary elections
Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova sent a letter to the Chairman of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, Head of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matvienko inviting observers from the assembly to the early parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, which will be held on September 1. "I am confident that the participation of the group of observers from the Assembly will contribute to the further development and deepening of comprehensive relations between Azerbaijan and the IPA CIS," Gafarova said in her letter.
The secretariat of the IPA CIS Council will begin forming a monitoring group, which will include representatives of the parliaments of the Assembly member countries, officials of the IPA CIS and experts from the International Institute for Monitoring the Development of Democracy of the IPA CIS.
Earlier, the head of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan, Mazahir Panahov, announced the sending of an invitation to 30 international organizations with request to participate in the monitoring of parliamentary elections.
