Azerbaijan Offers to Exchange D. Askerov and Sh. Guliyev for Armenian Military
Baku / 09/18/19 / Turan: Azerbaijan offers Armenia to exchange prisoners and hostages on the principle of "all for all", and in the future to return prisoners and hostages, as well as the bodies of the dead for three days through the mediation of international organizations.
In a statement circulated on September 18 by the State Commission of Azerbaijan for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons says this proposal was put forward by the Azerbaijani side in April 2016.
This position has been repeatedly expressed in subsequent negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as discussions of the State Commission with international organizations.
However, in recent days, the Armenian side has been spreading reports that Azerbaijan is allegedly not ready to exchange hostages seized in the occupied Kelbajar region in 2014 and illegally convicted, Dilgam Askerov and Shahbaz Guliyev, for Armenian citizens and military personnel Karen Kazaryan arrested for terrorist and provocative acts in the territory Azerbaijan, and Araik Kazaryan, who voluntarily surrendered to the Azerbaijani army in the Fizuli direction of the front, the press release says.
The State Commission refutes the allegations of the Armenian side, and emphasizes that it has once again officially informed international organizations about the readiness for the exchange of Dilgam Askerov and Shahbaz Guliyev for Karen Kazaryan and Araik Kazaryan on September 11, 2019.
The State Commission of Azerbaijan proposes to use the example of the exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine on the principle of "all for all", held on September 7, 2019. -06D--
