Azerbaijan Wants to Attract Qatari Investments
February 26 Ilham Aliyev left for an official visit to Qatar.
The same day, Aliyev met with President and CEO Qatar Petroleum Sherida Saad al-Kaabi.
The sides discussed prospects of cooperation in joint energy projects in the Caspian and SOCAR in other countries, it is said in a statement.
Aliyev also held talks with the head of Al Faisal Holding Faisal bin Qasim bin Faisal Al Thani.
During the meeting, prospects of cooperation in trade and investment were discussed. Faisal bin Qassim said that soon he will visit Azerbaijan within the Qatari delegation.
Note that, on a trip to Qatar, Ilham Aliyev is accompanied by the President and Vice President of the State Oil Company (SOCAR) and the head of the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan.
What kind of projects the negotiators touched is not reported. However, we can assume that we are talking about TANAP and TAP projects, the financing of which requires large investments. Given that Qatar is one of the largest gas suppliers to Europe, its involvement in these projects, as well as in gas production in the Caspian Sea, is logical. -02D-
