Azerbaijani-Iranian Consultations on Caspian Issues
Baku / 09.17.19 / Turan: Azerbaijani-Iranian bilateral consultations on Caspian issues were held in Baku on Tuesday.
The parties were represented by the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Border and Caspian Sea Issues, Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov, and Iran"s Special Representative for the Caspian, Head of the Main Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rza Nazar Ahari.
During the meeting, the issue of establishing the secretariat of the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Caspian Environment was discussed and the need for an early start of this structure for the effective application of the agreement was noted.
The importance of achieving an agreement on this issue on the basis of a mutual understanding soon was emphasized.
An exchange of views also took place on determining the date and agenda for the next meeting of the High-level Working Group on Caspian Sea issues of the coastal states.
