Azerbaijani-Turkish Military Exercises Begin in Nakhchivan
Baku / 05.06.19 / Turan: Units and military equipment of the Turkish Armed Forces arrived in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan the day before.
They will take part in the Indestructible Brotherhood tactical exercises held jointly with the Azerbaijani armed forces in the region.
The total number of military personnel participating in the exercises will be 5,000, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan said.
The exercise will involve more than 200 tanks and other armored vehicles, 180 rocket and artillery installations, multiple rocket launchers and mortars, 21 aircraft and helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and other types of modern weapons.
The purpose of the exercises is to develop joint combat operations, increase the level of combat effectiveness and coordination of actions of the military personnel of Azerbaijan and Turkey, the report said. -02D-

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
