Baku Calls on OSCE Minsk Group to Respond to Settlement of Occupied Territories
Baku / 14.09.20 / Turan: The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry appealed to the OSCE Minsk Group with an appeal to take measures to suppress the illegal settlement of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan by the Armenian government.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the aggressor state Armenia, using the tragedy in Lebanon, has begun to resettle the Lebanese Armenians to Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent regions, which are internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan.
This illegal activity is a gross violation of the norms and principles of international law by Armenia, including the 1949 Geneva Convention and its additional protocols.
By the policy of illegal settlement - the aggressor state is trying to consolidate the results of ethnic cleansing in the occupied territories and the status quo based on the occupation.
By artificially increasing the number of Armenians at the expense of migrants, Armenia seeks to prevent the return of Azerbaijanis who were forcibly expelled from Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent regions.
The Armenian leadership, seeking to escalate tensions in the region, is undermining a negotiated settlement of the conflict.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry expresses its strong protest in connection with the resettlement of ethnic Armenians from Lebanon to Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent regions of Azerbaijan called on the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and other international organizations to take practical steps to bring to justice the Armenian government, which continues the occupation of Azerbaijani territories and carries out illegal activities in these lands. — 06D-
