President Ilham Aliyev issued a decree on December 25, awarding the chief of his security service, deputy head of the Special State Protection Service (SSPS ) Beylar Ayyubov the rank of Colonel General.
Note that so far this title was awarded only to the first person of law enforcement agencies.
Another two senior employees of SSPS, Islam Alekperov and Mursal Veliyev were assigned the rank of Lieutenant General. Akif Yusifov became a Major General.

Economist Fazil Gasimov, who is on hunger strike for the 35th day, has been transferred to the medical and sanitary unit of the Baku pre-trial detention center-1, lawyer Rovshana Rahimova told Turan on the afternoon of July 19.

The statement of the organization, established in 2018 by a group of Azerbaijani political emigrants, notes that Sadigov moved to Georgia in connection with the repression in Azerbaijan against human rights defenders, journalists and opposition activists.

The preliminary investigation against economist Fazil Gasymov, who has been on a hunger strike for 35 days in the pre-trial detention centre, has been completed. At present, Gasymov and his lawyers are familiarising themselves with the seven-volume criminal case, his defender Rovshana Rahimova told Turan.
