Erdogan appoints 10 new ministers
Following the resignation of 3 ministers because of a corruption scandal, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a cabinet reshuffle. New ministers were appointed to ten of the 26 posts. Sent to retirement, among others, was EU Affairs Minister, Egemen Bagis. He became the only one of the four ministers - suspects in the corruption scandal, who did not voluntarily depart from his post, the agency DPA reported.
Permutations in the Turkish government were preceded by a large corruption scandal, in which the children of several ministers were involved. Last week, Turkish police detained dozens of people - senior police officials and their relatives - on suspicion of fraud for issuing licenses for construction and bribery.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Environment and Urban Planning, Erdogan Bayraktar, who left his post, demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. According to the ex - minister, a significant portion of permits for the construction of the controversial construction projects was issued with the consent of the head of government. -02D-
