Borrell urged to strengthen cooperation between the European Union and the countries of the South Caucasus in the field of defense
Baku/08.06.22/Turan: Against the backdrop of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, EU support for the countries of the South Caucasus is becoming important, stated the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, on June 8 at the plenary session of the European Parliament.
“The EU strongly continues to support Ukraine to win this war. In the context of Russia’s illegal and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine, the Strategic Compass clearly stresses our intention to boost our cooperation in the area of security and defence with our Eastern Partners. Support to Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and countries in the South Caucasus is more important than ever. We will continue supporting our partners and strengthening ties with them.
The EU continues to support Ukraine to win this war. We openly declare our intention to strengthen cooperation with the Eastern Partnership countries in the field of defense and security. Support for Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and other countries of the South Caucasus is more important today than ever,” Borrell said.
“We have proposed strengthening military assistance measures to Georgia and Moldova, which include support in the field of logistics, cyber defense, military medical, engineering and mobile capabilities,” Borrell said, adding that the assistance will be allocated this summer.
“The war must end on conditions acceptable to Kyiv and with full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders,” Borrell stressed. --16B--
