Illegally convicted demand from the authorities the rehabilitation and punishment of those esponsible
Baku/08.06.22/Turan: Investigative journalist Hadija Ismayilova sent her opinion to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on the implementation by the Azerbaijani authorities of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights.
The opinion was sent in connection with the discussions that began on June 8 in Strasbourg regarding non-execution of decisions of the European Court. There are eight complaints from Azerbaijan among these cases.
“I noted that the authorities are not implementing the decisions, and the situation is getting worse. In particular, there is interference in our personal lives through the Pegasus spyware, physical violence took place, people who met me were summoned to the State Security Service and tried to recruit.
In addition to me, other persons were subjected to video blackmail, their complaints were not investigated. A reactionary law on Media was passed, further restricting freedom of the press,” Ismailova wrote on her Facebook page.
“I demand a full acquittal, investigation of the crimes committed against me and punishment of those responsible. It is noteworthy that the investigator of the Baku prosecutor's office, who was in charge of my case, has now been promoted and has become the chief inspector for monitoring the investigation. That is, the person who falsified my case, and on which there is a court decision, now controls the investigation,” she noted and added that other investigators, whose cases were later protested by the European Court, also received promotion, Hadija Ismailova noted.
Human rights activist Anar Mammadli, in turn, noted that almost all compensation for the cases of his group has already been paid. Now there is a question of political rehabilitation of illegally convicted.
“Among those who were rehabilitated: Rasul Jafarov, Zaur Gurbanli, Uzeyir Mammadli, Rashad Hasanov, Ilgar Mammadov,
However, other individuals were not rehabilitated. We demand rehabilitation for them,” he told Turan. -03B-

November 8 is celebrated as Victory Day in Azerbaijan. In 2020, Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity through a 44-day war and a one-day military operation in 2023. Although a ceasefire declaration was signed between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia, a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan has yet to be signed, even four years later.
