British Ambassador Meets with Opposition Leaders
British Ambassador to Azerbaijan Irfan Siddig today visited the office of the movement Republican Alternative (REAL), where he met with the Executive Secretary of the organization Natig Jafarli and Board members Altai Geyushev and Erkin Gadirli.
During the two-hour meeting they discussed the economic and political situation and development prospects of the country, the forthcoming parliamentary elections, the issue of political prisoners and the pressure on the convicted leader of the movement Ilgar Mamedov.
Today Siddig also met with the head of the party Umid Igbal Aghazadeh. They discussed the situation in the region and Azerbaijan, the forthcoming parliamentary elections, and the issues of settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
Note that at the end of last week, the British ambassador already held talks with similar content with the leaders of the opposition parties Musavat and Popular Front, Arif Hajili and Ali Kerimli. -06D--
