Case Filed in Dagestan after Riots with Participation of Azerbaijanis
Baku /17.06.20 / Turan: Investigators in Dagestan opened a criminal case after riots at the border, during which Azerbaijani citizens attacked police officers. According to the press service of the Investigative Committee of Dagestan, the case was initiated under the articles 318 of the Criminal Code (the use of violence dangerous to the life of a government official) and 167 of the Criminal Code (intentional damage to another's property).
The report says that on June 15, about 400 Azerbaijani citizens tried to block the federal highway Caucasus near the Russian-Azerbaijani border. They resisted the police and stoned them, "using violence dangerous to life and health."
As a result, nine police officers were injured, five service cars were damaged, and about 400 thousand rubles of damage was caused. On suspicion of committing these crimes, 10 people were detained, the Investigative Committee of Dagestan reported.
Recall that the riots began after the Azerbaijani authorities did not allow everyone on the border (about 600 people) into the country. Outraged by the soullessness of official Baku, the citizens decided to break through the border.
The head of the Derbent region, Fuad Shikhiyev, said that those citizens of Azerbaijan who had lived in the camp for more than 2 months and did not get on the list of those who were allowed to return to Azerbaijan in the near future were dissatisfied. They cannot cross the border freely due to restrictions on the spread of coronavirus. -02D-
