CEC terminated deputy powers of Shahin Seyidzade
Baku/17.03.22/Turan: Today the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan terminated the powers of Shahin Seyidzade, the deputy of the Milli Majlis of the 6th convocation, reported the CEC.
This decision is connected with the appointment of Seyidzade by the order of the President of Azerbaijan dated March 3 as the Chairman of the Board of the Department of the Historical and Cultural Reserve "Icherisheher".
Referring to paragraph 4 of part 1 of Article 89 of the Constitution of Azerbaijan, the CEC decided to terminate Seyidzade's parliamentary powers.
Thus, the number of vacancies in the Azerbaijani parliament, which consists of 125 deputies, has increased to seven.
In the early elections to the Milli Majlis in 2020, the results were canceled in 4 constituencies. Another parliamentarian died after the elections. In addition, the powers of deputy Eldaniz Salimov were terminated in connection with the criminal case against him and the verdict that came into force. At the same time, the CEC still does not call repeat elections for vacant seats.-06B-
