Changing the format of the Karabakh talks is not discussed - Hajiyev
Baku/02.28.19/Turan: Commenting on the statement of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, that Yerevan will seek the participation of representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh in the negotiation process, the Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev, said that changing the format of the negotiation process on the Karabakh is not the subject of discussion.
"The statements of the leadership of Armenia on changing the format of the negotiations are nothing but attempts to purposefully lead to a deadlock and a breakdown in the negotiation process. Responsibility for this completely falls on the Armenian side," said Hajiyev.
"The format of the negotiation process on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is known, the change of this format cannot be the subject of discussion. The negotiation process is conducted through the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs between the parties to the conflict - Armenia and Azerbaijan," said Hajiyev.
The three contacts between the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia, as well as the four meetings held between the foreign ministers of the two countries after the change of power in Yerevan, are a good example of the existing format of negotiations, Hajiyev continued.
Yesterday in Tehran, Pashinyan stated that Armenia would seek the participation of representatives of the illegal regime in Nagorno-Karabakh in the negotiation process.
"One of the priorities of our government in the negotiation process is to increase the subjectivity of Karabakh. They should meet with the President of Azerbaijan. This will be a meeting without a agenda, but its main focus will be on the negotiation format," Pashinyan said.-06D-
