Coalition of NGOs demands to investigate attack on daughter of Gubad Ibadoglu
Baku / 25.02.20 / Turan: A coalition of NGOs to increase transparency in the extractive industry condemned the brutal beating of Jale Bayramova, a member of the election commission, student of the BSU law faculty, on February 9 in the 76th Lenkaran-Astara district.
The coalition’s statement read that Bayramova is the daughter of the famous economist Gubad Ibadoglu. Video footage of the girl’s brutal beating is widespread in social networks, but despite numerous appeals and complaints, no measures were taken.
Moreover, the head of the CEC, Mazahir Panahov, blamed Bayramova for the incident, saying that she did not have the right to video-record violations during the vote.
The coalition requires an objective investigation of the incident and prosecution of the girls who attacked the girls, Azada Karimova, under the Article 160 (interference with the activities of the election commission) and 315 (resistance to violence against a representative of the authorities). –06D-
