"By signing the Contract of the Century, which played a decisive role in the country's future, Azerbaijan held a special place on the world energy map, joined the process of integration into the global economic environment and took challenging steps to gain succes in the future," Aliyev said.
"Azerbaijan pursues an independent foreign policy based on its national interests and is recognized in the world as a reliable partner," Aliyev further noted.
Also, he particularly touched upon the the last year's 44-day war in Karabakh, as a result of which Azerbaijan restored historical justice.
Note that Azerbaijan's victory in the Great Patriotic War created new realities in the region. "Today, for the first time in our 30-year history of independence, we are celebrating the anniversary of the restoration of our independence as a victorious country that secured its territorial integrity," the statement reads. -06B-
